The Kings of the Minstrels

The story of Corvus Corax starts with a journey. Shortly before the fall of the Berlin wall Castus and Wim, who had worked as street musicians in the GDR committed what the regime called "Republikflucht" and left eastern Germany. In memory of a tame raven they had to leave behind they called themselves Corvus Corax. The first album, "Ante Casu Pecatti", was released as a cassette in the same year.

HAZMAT MODINE Draws from the rich soil of American music of the 20's and 30's through to the 50's and early 60's, blending elements of early Blues, Hokum Jugband, Swing, Klezmer, New Orleans R & B, and Jamaican Rocksteady.

The band is fronted by two harmonicas which use call and response, harmony, melody, and syncopated interweaving rhythms. The band includes tuba, guitar, and percussion, claviola and Hawaiian steel guitar. The band's sound reflects musical influences ranging from Avant-garde Jazz to Rockabilly and Western Swing to Middle-Eastern, African, and Hawaiian musical styles.

Since forming in 2014, The Villanovas have become one of the most exciting unsigned rock n’ roll bands in the UK.
After being named the blues magazine’s “band to watch” in 2015, the band was spotted at a London show by the manager of Metropolis Studios: this resulted in an open invite to record in the same studio as many famous music icons. In the spring of 2016, The Villanovas were billed as a headline act alongside Earth Wind and Fire EXP, Gilby Clarke, and Ana Moura at the Festival del Pitic in Hermosillo, Mexico, which garnered a crowd of 4,500.

Some time ago, a friend gave me a CD of a French band called “Ceux Qui Marchent Debout” (Those who walk upright) also known as CQMD for those who prefer a shorter name or who like me, can't pronounce it.

In my opinion France is a very musical country. Beyond their own roots the French can appreciate any rhythm or style in this world. This is true. After listening to CQMD another of my theories was confirmed: French musicians can turn any music into the most obsessive and extravagant version.

Percal Tango is a group of six young musicians who create in their arrangements and compositions, a sonorous framework in which the subtlety and nuances of chamber music coexist with strength and swing.

In recent years, Percal Tango has traveled through different venues of the Buenos Aires’ night, such as the Torcuato Tasso Cultural Center, Cultural Cooperation Center, Library Café, Vinyl Café, Classic and Modern, Jorge Luis Borges International Foundation, Tango Festival of Buenos Aires and a great variety of milongas, among others. Also has given concerts in diverse places of the country side as Rosario, Bahía Blanca and Cordoba.

Cantus Buranus is one of the most famous monumental projects of the German band Corvus Corax. In 2005 this ambitious project began: an extensive work of musicalization of the Latin text Carmina Burana.
The music of this opera was totally composed by the band and has no connection with the cantata composed by Carl Orff.

Rahis Bharti, the artistic director of the DHOAD Gypsies From Rajasthan is a Jaipur native musician and the descendant of courtier musicians from the times of Maharajas. Dhoad Gypsies have performed in over 1.100 concerts in 95 countries throughout the world within the last 15 years.

    Soon the band became known for driving rhythms, sweaty concerts and masterly instrumental technique. With drums and huge bagpipes (handcrafted by Wim), juggling and entertaining interaction with audiences, Corvis Corax contributed significantly to the development of Medieval Music as we know it. Albums like "Mille Anni Passi Sunt", were influential to an entire scene from Moscow to Mexico City. They toured in Japan and China, the U.S. and Canada as well as all over Europe.

Wade Schuman vocalista del grupo, mezcla su particular voz y la armónica como un llamado que alimenta la armonía, la melodía y los ritmos entrelazados sincopados con todos los otros integrantes.     Following the band’s first international tour, a tour of Canada came soon after, including a string of festivals and venue shows. Meanwhile back in England, they broke into the spotlight of BBC introducing, capping off an outstanding year. Their five-track ep, “bitter seeds”, is set to be released in early 2017, with a series of new releases to follow.

For us modesty is not a virtue, and this is the way CQMD define themselves: “The best French Funk band that ever existed!!” For CQMD, the French Funk is to Funk what the French Kiss is to the kiss.

    Toto carries the music in her genes, not in vain is part of a family of five generations of musicians. That is why, from a very early age, she became interested in traditional Caribbean music and dances, she learned and went from town to town in search of her musical roots and to listen the singer of each place, all singers who embodies the folklore of the area. TOTO LA MOMPOSINA is the best representative of the Colombian musical tradition.

Tuva (sometimes spelled Tyva) sits at the southern edge of Siberia, with Mongolia to its south. Over the centuries, Tuva has been part of Chinese and Mongolian empires, and shares many cultural ties with Mongolia. In 1944 it became part of the USSR, and until the late physicist Richard Feynman drew attention to it, was largely unknown to westerners. Tuva is now a member of the Russian Federation.

    The music of this opera was totally composed by the band and has no connection with the cantata composed by Carl Orff. It was recorded with symphonic orchestra, choirs and medieval ensembles, combining traditional symphonies with medieval trova melodies.

    This show could be a co-production, with a local orchestra and choir, and of course Corvus Corax music and Bernhard Wünsch direction.

Some of DHOAD’s most prestigious performances include Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee celebration in London; performing for the honorable Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi; playing for the President of France, François Hollande; and a birthday party performance for the lead vocalist and co-founder of The Rolling Stones, Mick Jagger.

Lou Best performs her original shows regularly as well as jazz and French music repertoire concerts. She is also a vocal free improviser and a Certified Music therapist (Asociation Française de Musicoterapie) offering different personal development workshops trough voice empowerment and creativity.
